Conversation about an Opera

I had never seen La Boheme before. The amazing thing is that the lyrics (translated of course) are so prosaic. Yes, I've noticed that too. Better to listen in French without subtitles! They say that the lyricists were not carefully selected. I think that they represent a dichotomy between ordinary life and the life of the spirit. Ordinary life just goes along assuming tomorrow. Physical things and mundane things take on central importance so that the magic always seems to come out of nowhere. If they would look they would see the magic was with them all along.
