The Healed Scar over the Brow

His eyes are
dimmed by awe
for all the time
wrapped in fantasy,
for all those years
not knowing what
a human being looks like,
and all those times
he didn't get he was in love,
for all those errors
that make him cry at night.

Unknown Factors in Tai Chi

When I did the
hug-a-tree today,
I could feel my
breathing in my fingers
as the air

like a decorative icing
Several times today
I could feel time stop
and I could feel the
gap between my fingers

Sand in My Shoes

We walk past the
wetland wash
in the sanctuary of birds
onto the beach.

We see the osprey mother
in her nest of branches
on a gray summit
of Target Rock;

and out in the sound,
the head of a black monster
quavers back and forth
below the moving surface.
