World Shaking Autumn: A Photoshow

It's a strange twilight,
hanging over the middle of the day,
stealing the power of my eyes
to make things real.
The inverted shadows
hollow what is solid.
The skeletons of things
break at the spine.
You are gone.
You took yourself
away. If you return
it will be with thorns.

Styles of Meeting Adversity

That's it.
Reached the wall
and I will be
no bigger. The
innards are no further
stretchable. I
cry out
when I try to
reach beyond,
a body
bound in flesh
and years
with its
moat of tears.

The Big Dead Truck

I am a data guy.
I think
like a truck,
best left alone
in a small room
with a pile of
paper in front of me.
Life is much
too complex for
my little heart.
Death scares me away. Anything
of consequence is reserved
for the parents,
none of whom
shields me.

My poem, "My Visionary Neighborhood"
has been accepted for publication in the Winter edition of "Light Journal" to be published in December.

Three Poems Sprung from The Same Dream

1. Sanity

I sat all day
carving away
at a dream
breaking it
into this world,
but carefully.
One stroke too many
will kill it.

2. Photography

If only I could
find my camera
when we have
the perfect light
to frame you,
while the miracle
surrounds your face.
I don't have the tool
to stop time.

The neighbors
smile as I suffer,
enjoy replacing
defeated heros,
show no mercy.

3. My Visionary Neighborhood

To be honest,
I do not trust
the neighbors.
with their upstanding
Boschian faces.

The streets
are filled with
bird beaks and
dunce caps
and fire.

The night is difficult
living, as I do,
with endings.

Day is a
coincidence of
position toward the light.

The truth is
The daytime

lets me dream.
I like the false,
and lies are a refuge.

The Crunch

It's alright.
Vestiges of
the old life
remain. I can still
shelter in them
and try to find
little nooks
to quiet my fears.
Even among the sharp edges,
don't worry. I will
steal time.
