Watched Crystals from Within

When, as a worried boy,
I watched the crystals
form on the glass,
I thought, are we

the crystalline form
of dreams?
Do we melt
back into dreaming?

The Cat

Now I understand her:
inferior creature.
She doesn't count
the value of her hours.
With diminishing stores of precious
vision time with eyes bright,
I know
that only
waking hours are the real
currency. I rub them together like
silver coins, but she,
