Microscopy

When I make the first cut it looks like I'm slicing a grapefruit. I rip into the flesh and the water flows all over the glass. Then I begin scraping the bubbly skin which splits into shards on the puddle surface. I want to make the gelatin solid, take away most of its natural character and claim it is something else, making it dry and flat. Then I look into it's insides pretending it's the surface of an alien planet and I've travelled deep and long to reach it.
