When Dora
who is barely
4 foot 8 and walks a tall dog

meets Leeta
who has long blond hair
and looks younger

until you get close
to see her etched face,
she tells how

her husband died leaving her alone
and how her power has been
cut by the storm

and not restored,
how she fell off the ladder
while clearing her roof of leaves

broke her legs
and how they replaced
all her spinal disks with steel.

But Leeta had a stroke, collapsed, broke
her back and they implanted her leg bones with
aluminum pins.
