Twelve Monkeys
The truth
comes in on a diagonal
slipping through the
laid out houses, not
down the streets, but
odd angles like the geese
which cross the lines
plotted in the land.
Don't look
down well-lit
pathways for the truth.
Doors to things
strange but real can be
hidden inside a concrete wall
or through a crack in a sewer stone.
Guides who take you away
to the truth may be the ones
who beg for quarters
and have smelly breath
