Biography: Note to a friend
I think I am still a scientist. One of my best professors was a phenomenologist, He taught me to focus on an exact description of what I see--which often goes way beyond the obvious. Since then what it has evolved to is trying to make hypotheses about what things really are. It's not necessary to reproduce things like a camera, but it is essential that we do the human thing and try to figure out what we are seeing and codify their essences into something that hangs together like a system. I am a theorist--I make theories and models.
